This is my thirtieth year teaching at Oakdale Junior High School! I love my job, and I love eighth graders. I have two kids of my own, and I have one dog and three cats (but I’m not a crazy cat lady… I actually prefer dogs).
My daughter just graduated from UC Santa Cruz, and my son is working on his PhD at UC Davis. I’m a super-proud mama!
I also teach at Oakdale High School in the afternoons, so if you need to reach me, the mornings are better. I am usually here before school from 7:00 or 7:15 on, and during most lunches. My email address is dhawksworth@ojusd.org (which is more private than posting a question on the blog; although I will respond to either!).
OJHS has about 805 students. There are currently three eighth grade English teachers, and there are also three seventh grade English teachers. Mr. Webb is the principal, Mrs. Medlin and Mr. Allen are the vice-principals, and Mrs. Manley is our lone counselor. This is a great district. Even before I lived in Oakdale, I brought my kids to school here, and that’s a testament to how good the schools are. 🙂
